Few cars grab more attention or burrow deeper into our collective muscle car psyche than the 1969 Camaro. Flowing lines, legendary powertrains and 40 years’ worth of history combine in one car, at the same time singular in concept yet with untold iterations.  Some are built for speed and some are built for show while the lucky few were born royalty.  This gorgeous Lemans Blue convertible, with its original window sticker and L78 396/375hp engine, is one of them:  Rare, powerful and extremely well optioned this is one of the finest examples you’ll find for sale today.

Delivered new from the Norwood, Ohio plant to the Indian River Chevrolet Company in Cocoa, Florida, this car has an astoundingly long and desirable list of options:

With $110 in destination charges and $1704.45 in options this car stickered out a$4754.95"a not insignificant amount of money in 1969!

This is a fully numbers matching car from top to bottom.  The VIN on the JL code, 3955272 396 and the heavy duty TH400 matches the car, but that’s only the beginning.  Properly date coded and original 3919840 rectangular port heads seal the combustion chambers while the original 3933163 intake manifold and 780cfm Holley 4346 carburetor send in the air and fuel.  Exhaust exits through the proper 3916178 right hand and service replacement 3969869 left hand exhaust manifolds.  Proper reproduction Packard wires transfer spark from the embossed Delco coil and correct distributor to the plugs.  The proper alternator with its deep groove aluminum pulley is fastened to the motor with the correct “no hole” bracket.  Correct TR-marked bolts hold down the new chrome valve covers; tower clamps fasten reproduction coolant hoses.  Proper markings dot the clean satin black engine bay and its supporting components.

Outside you’re greeted by clean and deep Lemans Blue paint, a crisp new top, new Firestone tires on mint rally wheels and clean chrome.  The Endura front bumper, so often installed as a customizing touch, is factory original here, as are the fender “hockey stick” stripes.  The RS grille dominates the front view while chrome hood louvers and the rear spoiler and RS lights come into view as the car flashes by.  Factory-spec panel gaps indicate a car restored to original condition rather than modern perfection; the original color scheme is so compelling no additional modifications are warranted or needed.

New deluxe door panels, new seat covers and foams, new carpeting and more line the near-perfect interior.  Clean original gauges, in the dash and in the console, give you all the information you need on what’s going on up front.  A new dash pad is in front of you, a new SS steering wheel is in your hands and new floor mats are at your feet.  This Camaro is a pleasure to drive thanks to the factory power steering, power disc brakes, automatic transmission and prodigious power from the 396 up front.

Underneath, correct markings and parts run from stem to stern.  Clean satin black paint covers the clean, original floor pans on this frame-off restored car.  Suspension components front and rear are finished correctly and sport their proper paint markings.  The original 12 bolt rear axle is out back, supported by correct leaf springs.  New brake calipers hang from the restored spindles along with new rotors and dust shields.  All brake and fuel lines are new.

With its documentation, original drivetrain, outstanding color combination and laundry list of options this Camaro is definitely one of the finest in the world.  A blue chip collectible, rare and an excellent investment"few cars can claim to be all three.
